Payroll Specialist | Manistee, MI Salary Range: $52,000 - $79,000 depending on experience Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for excelling in payroll specialist? The Opportunity We partner with manufacturers across Manistee seeking Payroll Specialists who want more than a lateral move. Key Responsibilities Process accurate and timely multi-state payroll for hourly and salaried manufacturing employees. Calculate and process complex pay components including overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, and commissions. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax laws, including year-end W-2 processing. Manage timekeeping system data integration and resolve discrepancies with supervisors and employees. Administer payroll deductions for benefits, garnishments, and other voluntary/involuntary items. Reconcile payroll general ledger accounts and prepare related financial reports. Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and timekeeping in a timely manner. Recommended Qualifications 2-5 years of direct payroll processing experience, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws, FLSA, and wage and hour regulations. Proficiency with major payroll software systems (e.g., ADP, Workday) and integrated timekeeping solutions. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, especially for complex calculations involving overtime, shift differentials, and incentives common in manufacturing. Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality and strong ethical standards when handling sensitive employee data. Bonus Qualifications Experience processing payroll under Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs). Proficiency with advanced timekeeping systems common in manufacturing environments (e.g., Kronos, UKG). Familiarity with multi-state payroll regulations and tax compliance. Experience with manufacturing-specific pay structures, such as shift differentials and production bonuses.
