Key Responsibilities Develop, optimize, and validate laser welding processes for new and existing products. Program, set up, and troubleshoot laser welding equipment, including robots and vision systems. Conduct root cause analysis for laser weld defects and implement effective corrective actions. Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure weldability and manufacturability of components. Establish and maintain process control parameters, work instructions, and comprehensive documentation for laser welding operations. Perform metallurgical analysis and mechanical testing of weld joints to assess quality and integrity. Provide technical expertise and support to production for complex laser welding issues and continuous improvement initiatives. Recommended Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, or a related technical field. 3+ years of hands-on experience in laser welding process development, optimization, and troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated expertise with industrial laser welding technologies (e.g., fiber, Nd:YAG, CO2) and associated equipment. Strong understanding of welding metallurgy, material science, and common weld defects for various alloys. Proficiency in applying statistical process control (SPC), design of experiments (DOE), and root cause analysis methodologies. Experience with CAD software and the design of welding fixtures and tooling. Bonus Qualifications Experience with advanced metallurgical analysis and characterization techniques for laser welds. Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for laser system programming and fixture design. Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis for process optimization. Experience integrating laser welding with robotic or automated manufacturing cells.
