Key Responsibilities Develop and optimize laser welding processes and parameters for new and existing products. Oversee the installation, maintenance, and calibration of laser welding equipment and tooling. Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to laser welding quality, equipment performance, and production yield. Define and implement quality control measures, conduct weld inspections, and analyze defects to ensure product integrity. Create and maintain detailed process documentation, work instructions, and engineering reports. Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness of laser welded components. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laser welding efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality. Recommended Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field. Proven experience (3+ years) in laser welding process development, optimization, and qualification in a manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of laser welding principles, equipment (e.g., fiber, Nd:YAG), beam delivery, and associated metallurgy. Expertise in troubleshooting laser weld defects, equipment issues, and implementing root cause corrective actions. Familiarity with weld inspection techniques (e.g., visual, destructive, NDT) and quality control standards. Experience with tooling and fixture design considerations for laser welding applications. Bonus Qualifications Experience integrating and programming robotic systems for laser welding. Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) methodologies or Lean Six Sigma certification. Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) or thermal simulation software for weld process optimization. Knowledge of advanced metrology techniques (e.g., CT scanning, white light interferometry) for weld inspection.
