The Opportunity We partner with manufacturers across Grand Rapids seeking First Article Inspectors who want more than a lateral move. Key Responsibilities Perform detailed dimensional and visual inspections of first article parts against engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications. Utilize a wide range of precision measuring instruments including CMMs, calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and optical comparators. Generate comprehensive First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and other required quality documentation. Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T callouts to ensure accurate part validation. Identify, document, and report non-conformances, collaborating with engineering and production for root cause analysis and corrective actions. Maintain and calibrate inspection equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability of measurements. Contribute to the continuous improvement of inspection processes and quality standards. Recommended Qualifications Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering blueprints, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Expertise in using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators, and CMMs. Demonstrated experience in performing First Article Inspections (FAI) and generating comprehensive FAI reports (e.g., AS9102 standard). Solid understanding of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100) and relevant industry standards. Strong attention to detail and analytical skills to identify non-conformances and ensure product specifications are met. Bonus Qualifications Experience with CMM programming or advanced operation. Advanced understanding and application of GD&T principles. Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies. Experience with various optical or vision measurement systems.
