  • Clearance Requirements: Tier 1 Background Investigation - National Agency Check with Lawand Credit Check, and fingerprints. (Standard Form 85).
  • Estimated Compensation: $90,000 - $95,000 yearly (negotiable based on experience).
  • Type of Employment: 40 hours per week.
  • Period of Performance: 30 September 2025 29 May 2027 (Option to Extend Services)
  • Employee Paid Group Benefits Offered: Health/Dental/Vision.
  • Paid Time Off per Year: Up to 80 hours per year, occurring on day one.
  • Sick Leave per Year: Up to 56 hours per year, occurring on day one.
  • Paid Federal Holidays: Eleven (11) Paid Federal Holidays.
  • Travel: Travel is anticipated under this effort.

Summary of Services:

The Data Scientist will support the Aeromedical Consultation and Medical Flight Screening Division in reviewing risk analysis for USAF-rated aircrews who have developed complex or unusual health conditions and provide comprehensive assessments and medical care plans to return flyers to flight.

Working Hours

The Data Scientist's working hours will be from 0730 to 1630, Monday through Friday, except Federal holidays, unless the Contracting Officer Representative stipulates otherwise. Although the schedule may have to be flexible, it will not exceed 40 hours per week.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in an applied quantitative field. Preferred education concentration may include Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, and Economics.
  • A minimum of three (3) years experience deploying predictive analytics.
  • Demonstrate experience with Python and object-oriented programming.
  • Demonstrate experience with standard data manipulation tools within Python, Numpy, Pandas, etc.
  • Demonstrate experience with standard plotting in Python and Matplotlib.
  • Demonstrate experience with Sci-Kit Learn and Python's open-source machine learning software.
  • Signed Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) in place with their company based on the potential access to confidential, proprietary, and/or sensitive information. The NDA shall be provided to the Government Program Manager at the start of performance.

Highly Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working with software engineers to develop novel dashboards to enable interaction with AI technologies.
  • Experience developing with pre-trained language models.
  • Experience with Dimensionality reduction techniques.
  • Experience with Tensorflow, PyTorch, or other GPU-enabled deep learning libraries.
  • Experience working with USAFSAM.
  • Prior study and familiarity with human biology.
  • Prior study and familiarity with human performance.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Tasked with developing, deploying, and tuning novel unsupervised tree-based clustering machine learning models.
  • Accurately describe how several classes of algorithms work.
  • Accurately explain exactly how a decision tree works and be able to code it from scratch.
  • Accurately explains the difference between density-based and binning-based clustering.
  • Accurately explain how the k-nearest neighbors algorithm works.
  • Be able to implement the k-nearest neighbors algorithm, from scratch, in code. If the candidate can implement the naive version of the nearest neighbors, but not an optimized version, they must be able to describe an optimized version of k-nearest neighbors accurately.
  • Be able to write an optimized list sorting algorithm, from scratch, in less than an hour, with no external resources.
  • Understand how to generate a distance matrix; candidates must be able to demonstrate that they are capable of minimizing the size of a distance matrix in code.
  • Demonstrate writing vectorized code.
  • Obtain HIPAA training upon performance of work.
  • Maintain HIPAA standards and prevent data leaks
