COO- Global Automotive Operations & Sales

About the position

Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Operating Officer with a strong blend of sales, business development, and operational expertise to lead our automotive operations and drive strategic growth in the rapidly evolving automobile industry. This role requires proven expertise in global B2B automotive sales, operational excellence, and strategic leadership to manage multi-market operations.

The COO will oversee all operational aspects of the business while simultaneously driving global B2B sales, market expansion, and strategic partnerships across the automotive value chain. The ideal candidate will possess deep experience in cross-functional coordination, strategic sales planning, and international business operations.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Business Development

  • Develop and execute comprehensive business strategies integrating sales, operations, and global market expansion initiatives.
  • Lead strategic sales initiatives and business development efforts, including new market entry and revenue diversification.
  • Drive corporate development activities including joint ventures, strategic alliances, and acquisition opportunities.
  • Oversee go-to-market strategies for new products and services across different automotive segments.

Global B2B Sales Leadership & Revenue Growth

  • Lead enterprise-level B2B automotive sales across 2-3 international markets with a focus on pure B2B sales operations.
  • Develop and manage key account relationships with global dealers, distributors, and fleet operators (no OEM partnerships).
  • Drive revenue growth through strategic sales planning, market penetration, and customer acquisition strategies.
  • Oversee sales team performance, territory management, and channel partner development.
  • Coordinate and manage sales operations from remote work locations while ensuring team alignment.

Cross-Functional & Operational Excellence

  • Manage and direct the sales team while ensuring smooth inter-departmental cooperation across:
  1. Logistics
  2. Procurement
  3. Finance
  • Ensure customer service KPIs and service-level agreements are met consistently.
  • Drive operational efficiency and cost optimization initiatives while maintaining high-quality service standards.

Market Development & Customer Relations

  • Identify and pursue new market opportunities across automotive segments (passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, aftermarket).
  • Lead customer engagement initiatives and manage long-term client relationships.
  • Drive customer satisfaction initiatives through proactive account management.

Financial & Performance Management

  • Manage operational budgets while driving revenue growth and profitability.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs for sales performance, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports combining operational metrics with sales performance data.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Masters degree in Business Administration or related field; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in the automotive industry with combined sales, business development, and operations background.
  • At least 8-10 years in senior executive roles with P&L responsibility, including revenue generation.
  • Proven experience managing global B2B automotive sales operations and cross-functional teams.

Sales & Business Development Expertise

  • Strong track record of developing and executing strategic sales initiatives resulting in measurable revenue growth.
  • Experience in complex deal structuring, contract negotiation, and strategic partnership development.

Operational & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Knowledge of vehicle logistics, procurement, and financial operations related to automotive distribution.
  • Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure seamless business operations.
  • Experience managing remote and hybrid work teams effectively.

Industry Knowledge & Strategic Skills

  • Understanding of global automotive markets, competitive landscape, and customer buying patterns.
  • Familiarity with emerging automotive technologies, electric vehicles, and mobility services is an advantage.
  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate market opportunities into operational execution.
