The Opportunity We are partnering with a mission-focused organization to identify a Construction Inspector (FN) supporting a customer at Fort Meade, MD . This role is ideal for a field-proven inspector who can ensure construction activities meet contract requirements, codes, and quality standards—while operating with discipline and documentation rigor in a cleared environment. Job Overview The Construction Inspector supports site inspection activities across building, mechanical/plumbing, and electrical construction work. You will document site conditions, identify and report safety concerns, review plans/specifications for constructability, participate in project coordination meetings, and support quality assurance tracking to ensure installations comply with contract documents and applicable codes/standards. Key Responsibilities Site Inspection & Field Oversight (35%) Assist in site inspections for building, mechanical/plumbing, and electrical construction activities. Verify work aligns with drawings, specifications, contract requirements, and applicable codes/standards. Observe construction progress and communicate field observations to senior inspectors and the COR. Documentation & Reporting Discipline (25%) Document site conditions and maintain accurate personnel, equipment, and material logs. Track inspection findings and support QA documentation and records retention requirements. Identify, document, and report unsafe conditions and ensure appropriate escalation. Pre-Work Review & Constructability Support (20%) Review project plans and specifications for constructability prior to work starting. Flag inconsistencies, conflicts, and potential constructability risks early to support smoother execution. Coordination, Meetings & Stakeholder Support (20%) Attend project meetings and coordinate day-to-day inspection activities with senior inspectors and the COR. Support quality assurance tracking and follow-up to ensure corrective actions are implemented and verified. Job Scope This role supports mission-critical facilities efforts within a secure federal environment. Success requires strong technical inspection fundamentals across multiple trades, consistent documentation habits, safety awareness, and the ability to coordinate effectively with project stakeholders while maintaining compliance with contract and code requirements. Skills & Experience Minimum Qualifications U.S. Citizenship required. Security Clearance: TS/SCI with Poly (required). Certification: Active Certified Construction Inspector (CCI) required. Education/Training: High school diploma (or equivalent) plus completion of a building trade journeyman accreditation. Experience: 5–9 years of field trade experience and/or supervision in one of the following: electrical, mechanical, civil, structural, or architectural facilities construction. Thorough knowledge of construction inspection principles, facilities engineering technologies (mechanical, electrical, building), QA/QC methodologies, and applicable building codes and standards. Preferred Qualifications Experience in inspecting multi-discipline projects in secure or federal environments. Strong proficiency with inspection reporting, logs, and QA tracking practices. Ability to identify and communicate constructability risks and safety issues clearly and promptly.
