The Opportunity We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Mason that are seeking skilled Laser Weld Engineers. Key Responsibilities Develop and optimize laser welding processes and parameters for various materials and applications. Select, install, qualify, and maintain laser welding equipment and associated tooling. Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to laser welding processes, equipment, and product quality. Establish and monitor quality control standards, performing inspections and analysis of welded components. Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams on fixture design and material selection for weldability. Create and maintain detailed process documentation, work instructions, and engineering specifications. Drive continuous improvement initiatives for laser welding operations to enhance efficiency and yield. Recommended Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in industrial laser welding process development and optimization. Strong understanding of metallurgy, material science, and the interaction of lasers with various materials. Proficiency with various laser welding technologies (e.g., fiber, Nd:YAG) and associated automation/robotics. Experience with weld quality inspection, NDT methods, and root cause analysis for weld defects. Bonus Qualifications Experience with laser welding of exotic materials or dissimilar metal combinations. Proficiency in integrating laser welding systems with robotics or automated manufacturing cells. Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) or design of experiments (DOE) for weld optimization. Experience with advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) methods (e.g., CT scanning, phased array UT) for weld analysis.
