Key Responsibilities Develop, optimize, and document laser welding processes for new and existing products. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to laser welding equipment, tooling, and weld quality. Specify, install, qualify, and maintain laser welding systems and associated automation. Conduct metallurgical analysis and develop quality control methods for laser welded assemblies. Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure manufacturability and optimize product designs for laser welding. Provide technical guidance and training to manufacturing personnel on laser welding best practices and safety. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laser welding efficiency, yield, and cost-effectiveness. Recommended Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. 2+ years of hands-on experience with industrial laser welding systems (e.g., fiber, YAG, CO2 lasers). Strong understanding of welding metallurgy, laser physics, and process optimization for various materials. Proven ability in laser weld process development, troubleshooting, and parameter optimization in a manufacturing setting. Proficiency with CAD/CAM software for fixture design and weld path programming. Familiarity with quality control techniques (e.g., NDT, destructive testing) and relevant industry welding standards. Bonus Qualifications Experience with robotic programming (e.g., FANUC, KUKA, ABB) for automated laser welding cells. Proficiency in advanced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods or metallographic analysis for weld quality assessment. Familiarity with CAD/CAM software for fixture design, process simulation, or part analysis. Certification or strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
