Key Responsibilities Set up, operate, and maintain EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) equipment, including wire and/or sinker EDM machines. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions to determine machining operations and specifications. Perform in-process and final quality inspections using precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers) to ensure parts meet tolerance requirements. Monitor machine operations, adjust parameters (e.g., power, feed rate, spark gap), and troubleshoot minor issues to optimize performance. Load and unload workpieces, fixtures, and electrodes, ensuring proper alignment and secure clamping. Perform routine preventative maintenance on EDM machines, including cleaning, fluid checks, and electrode changes. Document production data, quality checks, and maintenance activities accurately. Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment. Recommended Qualifications Proven experience operating EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) equipment, including wire and/or sinker EDM. Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical blueprints, schematics, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Ability to set up, operate, and perform basic programming (e.g., G-code, machine-specific software) for EDM machines. Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and optical comparators. Strong understanding of different material properties and their impact on EDM processes, with good troubleshooting skills. Bonus Qualifications Proficiency with CAD/CAM software for programming and setup (e.g., Mastercam, Esprit). Experience with advanced metrology equipment for part inspection (e.g., CMM, optical comparator). Background in tool and die making or mold manufacturing. Ability to perform minor troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on EDM machinery.
