Full-time, Permanent - April 2025 Start Are you a passionate and innovative Teacher of Product Design with a desire to inspire the next generation of designers and engineers? We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our thriving Design & Technology department in a sixth form college in Ealing. About the College: Our college is a vibrant and academically ambitious learning community where students are encouraged to delve deeper into their chosen subjects and develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. We have a strong track record of achievement, with our students consistently achieving excellent results in A Level examinations and progressing to top universities. About the D&T Department: The Design & Technology department is a collaborative and supportive team with a shared passion for fostering students' creativity, innovation, and practical skills. We offer a stimulating and engaging curriculum that covers a wide range of D&T specialisms, including product design, resistant materials, electronics, and textiles. We have well-equipped workshops and studios with access to the latest technologies and resources, including 3D printers, laser cutters, and CAD/CAM software. About the Role: Teach Product Design at A Level, inspiring and challenging students to deepen their understanding of design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes. Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities. Support students in developing their design skills, from concept generation and prototyping to manufacturing and evaluation. Guide students in conducting independent research and completing challenging coursework, fostering their critical thinking, problem-solving, and creative abilities. Contribute to the department's curriculum development and resource creation, ensuring that our Product Design curriculum remains relevant, engaging, and rigorous. Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the college to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and keep abreast of the latest developments in Product Design and D&T education. Ideal Candidate: Holds QTS or equivalent. Possesses excellent subject knowledge in Product Design and a passion for design and innovation. Demonstrates a passion for teaching Product Design and a commitment to student success. Has strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills. Is confident in building rapport with students and fostering a positive and stimulating learning environment. Has a good understanding of the A Level Product Design specifications and assessment requirements. Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
