Job Title: English Teacher Location: Croydon (Specific school details will be provided to shortlisted candidates only) Department: English School Type: Church of England Secondary School Contract Type: Full-time (part-time considered), permanent What We're Looking For: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual who can bring English Language and Literature to life for our students, while also supporting the school's Christian values. The ideal candidate will be: A qualified teacher (holding QTS or equivalent). Experienced in teaching English Language and Literature at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Experience teaching Key Stage 5 (A-Level) is advantageous but not essential. We welcome applications from ECTs. Passionate about English and able to convey that passion to students of all abilities. An excellent classroom practitioner with strong behaviour management skills. Committed to raising student achievement and fostering a love of reading and writing. A collaborative team player who is willing to contribute to the wider school community. Dedicated to their own professional development and eager to learn and grow. Supportive of the school's Christian ethos and values. This is important for a Church of England school. An effective English Teacher Key Responsibilities: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and challenging English lessons across the relevant Key Stages. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners. Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback, both written and oral. Maintain accurate records of student attainment and progress. Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and respect, in line with the school's Christian values. Collaborate effectively with colleagues within the English department and across the school. Participate actively in departmental meetings, planning, and development activities. Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress. Ensure the safety and well-being of all pupils.
