Production Planner

About the position

Basic Purpose and Objective of the Position:

This position is responsible for the development, preparation and maintenance of production schedules to guide the production activities and resources that achieve maximum efficiency and meet output and timeline objectives.

Major Responsibilities reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions:
    • Serve as key contributor in long-term and day-to-day production planning, providing advanced scheduling solutions and strategic insights.
    • Develop and maintain detailed build schedules for multi-phase work orders spanning several weeks to months.
    • Plan long-lead work orders in phases, considering engineering release timing, material arrival, and subassembly readiness.
    • Work backward from firm customer due dates to establish critical-path schedules.
    • Create Gantt-style planning tools or visual schedules to track layered progress across long-duration builds.
    • Incorporate external processing timelines early in the schedule to avoid late-stage delays.
    • Sequence jobs based on part complexity, priority programs, and specialized/preferred machine availability.
    • Align material availability months in advance with scheduled build starts.
    • Ensure that build starts are not triggered until material, tooling, and documents are fully aligned.
    • Provide leadership with build risk dashboards for ongoing jobs with multiple-month durations.
    • Push open operations or inspection steps when timeline compression is needed.
    • Assist in identifying opportunities to reduce slack or idle time on long builds nearing completion.
    • Regularly coordinate with engineering to understand design maturity and drawing release timing.
    • Proactively foster internal cross -functional relationships in order to drive regional and global strategies for assigned products.
    • Accomplish forward production analysis to ensure accurate business forecasting and product projections.
    • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4+ years related experience
  • Strong understanding of various production scheduling methodologies and the ability to tailor scheduling strategies to match the unique constraints of different value streams.
  • Strong problem-solving and data analysis skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work as a team within planning, other functions, and with other locations worldwide
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • All items from Education & Experience above
  • Experience with EPICOR and Shop Floor Control Processes.
  • CPIM or related certifications
  • Lean/6Sigma certification(s)/training


Targeted Salary Range: $100,000-$120,000
