Salary: R48,000 R52,000 per month (CTC, includes medical aid contribution)

About the Green Finance Programme

The Green Finance Programme exists to unlock and scale finance for sustainable and low-carbon initiatives. This is achieved through ecosystem building, strategic partnerships, and specialised research. The programme operates across sectors including renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, water and wastewater, and the circular economy.

Key focus areas:

  • Market research and data collection

  • Dissemination of finance insights and tools

  • Support for bankable green projects

  • Access to finance facilitation

Role Overview: Senior Analyst Green Finance

We are seeking a strategic, analytical, and impact-driven professional to join the Green Finance team. This role plays a critical part in supporting the development of sustainable infrastructure finance in South Africa, particularly in projects that enhance climate resilience and public-sector capability.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in generating knowledge, engaging stakeholders, structuring finance, and advancing innovative mechanisms for green investment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct financial modelling, feasibility studies, and business case development

  • Structure finance for green infrastructure projects

  • Develop investment-ready pipelines

  • Lead or contribute to strategic stakeholder engagements and workshops

  • Align project support with SDGs, ESG metrics, Equator Principles, and IFC Performance Standards

  • Collaborate with municipalities, funders, government entities, and DFIs

  • Oversee internal and external project delivery, including budgets and timelines

  • Translate financial and market data into actionable insights

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Postgraduate degree (Masters preferred) in Finance, Development Finance, Economics, Commerce, or Business Management

  • Minimum 4 years relevant experience in financial analysis, modelling, or feasibility assessments

  • Demonstrated experience in green, infrastructure, or sustainable finance

  • Knowledge of public sector finance and project implementation (advantageous)

  • Familiarity with sustainable finance and impact frameworks (e.g. SDGs, ESG, blended finance)

  • Existing networks in green economy, finance, or infrastructure sectors
