  • Clearance Requirements: Tier 1 Background Investigation National Agency Check with Law and Credit Check and fingerprints. (Standard Form 85).
  • Estimated Pay: $54.38/hour (Negotiable)
  • Type of Employment: 40 hours per week.
  • Employee Paid Group Benefits Offered: Health/Dental/Vision.
  • Paid Time Off per Year: 80 hours per year, occurring on day one.
  • Sick Leave per Year: 56 hours per year, occurring on day one.

Summary

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is a highly trained healthcare professional responsible for independently performing diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures. This includes the preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals, operation of specialized imaging equipment (such as gamma cameras and PET scanners), and acquisition of high-quality images for interpretation by a physician. The technologist ensures patient safety, radiation protection, and accurate documentation while delivering compassionate and professional care.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or related field
  • Certification by NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board) or ARRT (N) required
  • State licensure
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of nuclear medicine experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of radiation physics, radiopharmaceuticals, and imaging protocols
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and patient care skills

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, calculate, and administer radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with physician orders and safety protocols
  • Perform a wide range of nuclear medicine procedures, including:
    • Bone scans
    • Cardiac stress tests
    • Thyroid uptake and scans
    • Renal and hepatobiliary studies
    • PET/CT and SPECT imaging
  • Operate and maintain nuclear medicine equipment, including gamma cameras and PET scanners
  • Educate and prepare patients for procedures, explaining the process and addressing concerns
  • Monitor patients during and after radiopharmaceutical administration for adverse reactions
  • Ensure proper patient positioning and comfort during imaging procedures
