About the position
Psychology and Sociology Teacher – Surrey Secondary School – Exploring Individuals and Society
An Outstanding secondary school in Surrey is seeking a versatile and passionate educator to join their team as a Psychology and Sociology Teacher. This is a full-time, permanent position, offering the unique opportunity to teach across two complementary social science disciplines at Key Stages 4 and 5. The school fosters critical thinking and encourages students to explore the complex interplay between individual minds and social structures.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging and challenging lessons in both Psychology and Sociology, drawing connections between the two subjects where appropriate.
- Cover a wide range of topics within both disciplines, including psychological theories, research methods, social structures, inequalities, and cultural diversity.
- Prepare students for success in GCSE and A-Level examinations in both subjects.
- Develop students' critical thinking, analytical, and research skills.
- Foster an understanding of ethical issues in both psychology and sociology.
- Contribute to the development of both the Psychology and Sociology curricula.

Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- A degree in Psychology, Sociology, or a closely related field.
- Proven experience teaching both Psychology and Sociology at the secondary level, preferably including A-Level.
- Strong subject knowledge in both disciplines and the ability to integrate them effectively.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- The desire to work as a Psychology and Sociology Teacher
