Founding Engineer (San Francisco Bay Area and Seattle)

About the position

BA Global Talent is seeking an exceptional Founding Engineer in the San Francisco Bay Area, or Seattle to help build, launch, and scale innovative products. Responsibilities:

• Architect, build, and ship a complex application from the ground up
• Select and own the tech stack, making key decisions on tools and technologies
• Develop and deploy scalable, secure, high-performance systems
• Collaborate closely with the CTO (strategic role) and other founders to influence the product roadmap and company strategy
• Hire and mentor an additional engineer over time as the team grows
• Deliver fast: Launch an MVP within 2–2.5 months for internal testing while maintaining high quality
• Navigate ambiguity: Solve problems proactively in a fast-moving, dynamic startup environment

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience developing complex web systems
• Deep expertise in AWS (GCP/Azure experience is a plus)
• Hands-on technical leadership: Proven ability to architect, develop, and deploy scalable systems independently
• Experience with agentic AI workflows and scalable infrastructure is a major advantage
• Startup experience: Strong preference for candidates from fast-growth, early-stage environments
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to make smart, scalable tech decisions independently
• Highly self-motivated, dependable, and driven to build breakthrough cybersecurity technology
• Comfortable working on-site in either San Francisco Bay Area or Seattle (work is highly collaborative, though not necessarily 100% in-office)
• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)

Technical Skills:

• Strong programming skills with a hands-on development mindset
• Skilled in setting up efficient development workflows (CI/CD, version control)
• Deep cloud expertise, particularly with AWS services
• Experience designing and deploying scalable, secure systems
• Familiarity with AI technologies and agentic AI workflows (preferred)
