Software Engineer (Maternity Leave Cover)

About the position
Our Hub88 team is looking for a Software Engineer to join on a fixed-term basis to cover a maternity leave (approximately 18 months). In this role, you’ll help build high-performance applications, write clean and testable code, and collaborate closely on requirements and architecture. Key responsibilities include optimizing performance, integrating APIs, troubleshooting issues, conducting code reviews, and ensuring security throughout the development lifecycle.
Your day-to-day
- Develop and maintain robust, scalable, and high-performance software applications using TS, React, NextJs and similar technologies;
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, technical specifications, and architecture;
- Write clean, maintainable, testable code and deploy new features following best practices and coding standards;
- Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability;
- Implement and maintain integrations with third-party APIs and services;
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to application functionality, performance, and reliability;
- Open to on-call responsibilities, supporting incident management, technical operations, and partners to ensure timely issue resolution.
- Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to other team members;
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments and trends in relevant programming languages;
- Participate in the design and planning of new features and projects;
- Ensure the security and data protection of applications.
Your background and mindset
- 3+ years of hands-on software development experience with a focus on React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Familiarity with tools and technologies like PostgreSQL, Docker, GraphQL, Redis, NextJs, Redux, Elasticsearch, is a plus and testing frameworks like Jest;
- Understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and responsive web design fundamentals;
- Experience with microservices, event-driven architectures, and data-heavy applications;
- Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, and code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations;
- Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervision;
- Excellent verbal and written English communication;
- Willingness to learn new technologies;
- Previous experience in iGaming is a plus.
