The Role: Service Charge Accountant

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive in-house accounts team of six, reporting to a Chartered Accountant. The Service Charge Accountant will take ownership of their own portfolio, preparing full sets of accounts, managing budgets, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting. This is a remote role following UK working hours, offering flexibility and scope for career development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare full sets of service charge accounts from Trial Balance and Nominal Ledger.
  • Produce budgets, financial client reports, and expenditure reviews.
  • Manage accounts preparation in-house without reliance on external accountants.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
  • Ensure adherence to deadlines and high standards of accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the accounts team to support overall team objectives.

About You

  • Minimum AAT Level 3 qualification (or South African equivalent); ideally AAT Level 4 or studying towards ACCA/CIMA.
  • Demonstrable strong accounting and double-entry skills, with the ability to produce accounts from Trial Balance.
  • Experience preparing service charge accounts preferred but not essential.
  • Strong Excel skills; experience with MRI QUBE or similar software is advantageous.
  • Highly organized, able to multitask and manage your own portfolio autonomously.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships with clients.
  • Proactive, deadline-driven, and comfortable working remotely.
