CMM - Metrology Lead

With over 30 CMMs in daily use and a mix of Zeiss Calypso, PC-DMIS, PolyWorks, and CMM Manager platforms, the environment is complex and fast-paced. As Metrology Lead, youll oversee programming consistency, support inspection strategies, mentor less experienced technicians, and collaborate with engineering to ensure dimensional compliance on forged and machined parts.

What Youll Do:

  • Lead day-to-day CMM inspection activities across multiple software platforms

  • Develop and approve programs using Zeiss Calypso, PC-DMIS, PolyWorks, or CMM Manager

  • Mentor CMM operators and technicians, supporting skills development and workflow consistency

  • Review and interpret complex GD&T requirements, including theoretical features and tight tolerances

  • Serve as a liaison between metrology, engineering, and quality to resolve dimensional issues

  • Coordinate with internal and external resources for equipment support and troubleshooting

  • Ensure calibration schedules and documentation are up to date and audit-ready

What Youll Need:

  • 5+ years in a metrology or dimensional inspection environment, with at least 2 years in a leadership or senior technician role

  • Proficiency in at least two of the following: Zeiss Calypso, PC-DMIS, PolyWorks, CMM Manager

  • Strong command of GD&T and blueprint interpretation, especially in complex or regulated manufacturing

  • Proven ability to train, mentor, and lead CMM staff across multiple shifts or teams

  • Familiarity with inspection of forged, machined, or tooling components

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

Whats Preferred:

  • Experience in aerospace or medical device inspection environments

  • Exposure to theoretical datums and advanced feature measurement

  • Familiarity with lean or continuous improvement initiatives within quality or metrology functions

  • Hands-on experience coordinating audits or supporting PPAP/FAI documentation
