Corporate Affairs Director

About the position

RESPONSIBILITIES

Corporate Affairs Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and implement a long-term communication strategy to position the company as a leader in the pet nutrition and broader consumer industry.
  • Safeguard brand reputation in line with corporate philosophy, communication standards, and cultural values.
  • Oversee communications, government & regulatory affairs, crisis management, corporate/brand reputation, scientific affairs, consumer care, and stakeholder engagement.

Stakeholder & Government Relations

  • Engage and influence a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including government/regulators, NGOs, industry associations, academia, and key opinion leaders.
  • Develop and execute an external stakeholder and government strategy to support digital commerce and business growth priorities.
  • Represent the China business unit in crisis management, ensuring rapid escalation and resolution using corporate protocols.

Reputation & Risk Management

  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks that could impact the companys image, reputation, or stakeholder trust.
  • Advise leadership on external/internal threats and opportunities, shaping strategies to protect and enhance business objectives.
  • Align corporate affairs strategy with global principles while adapting to local market needs.

Scientific & Community Engagement

  • Strengthen scientific affairs and consumer education programs to enhance credibility and business growth.
  • Drive corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives in alignment with global policies and local priorities.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead and inspire the Corporate Affairs team, fostering high performance, professional growth, and succession planning.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion, diversity, and engagement within the team and across the organization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and global corporate affairs councils to ensure alignment and best practices.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • 15+ years in Corporate Affairs, with expertise in:

    • Government & Regulatory Affairs
    • Public Relations, Reputation Management, Crisis Communications
    • Stakeholder Engagement & Policy Influence
  • 5+ years in leadership roles, managing diverse and high-performing teams.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strategic Thinker Ability to align corporate affairs with business objectives.
  • Exceptional Communicator Fluent in English with strong written and verbal presentation skills.
  • Influential Leader Skilled in building trust with executives, regulators, and key stakeholders.
  • Crisis Management Expert Proven ability to navigate high-pressure situations.
  • Adaptable & Culturally Aware Comfortable in a multinational, matrixed organization.

This role reports directly to the China General Manager and serves as a key member of the China Leadership Team, playing a critical role in shaping the Company reputation and growth in the market.
