Corporate Project Engineer

About the position
Summary:
Our client is seeking a Corporate Project Engineer to join their team! This role provides mechanical engineering support to promote safe, efficient, and reliable production by leading cost-effective capital and major maintenance projects across manufacturing facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in conceptualizing, developing, and executing capital projects, including scope, budgets, and schedules
- Support the preparation of Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) requests
- Assist in project construction, commissioning, and handover processes
- Collaborate with supervisors, tradespeople, operators, and purchasers for project input
- Contribute to equipment design and optimization to maximize reliability and performance
- Solicit contractors, vendors, and consultants for project needs
- Review engineering plans, drawings, materials, and installations
- Coordinate and lead internal and external project review meetings
- Supervise trades and contractors to ensure safety and quality standards
- Serve as technical liaison for consulting engineers, contractors, suppliers, and external agencies
- Travel to U.S. manufacturing facilities to provide technical support, troubleshooting, and share best practices
- Understand process flows and equipment functionality
- Prepare and deliver progress reports and presentations on project status
- Provide auxiliary support for shutdowns, safety projects, and other assigned duties
- Apply relevant external codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., OSHA, NFPA, Building Code)
- Assist in developing internal safety and project standards
- Undertake special projects and other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- 3 to 5 years of recent experience in construction project management within heavy manufacturing (metal, steel, wood, automotive)
- Proficient in reading Civil, Structural, and Mechanical drawings
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and supervisory skills to plan, organize, and monitor project activities
- Advanced computer skills including MS Office, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Microsoft Power BI
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with all organizational levels
- Strong problem-solving and project management capabilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Self-motivated with a growth mindset and desire to learn and succeed
- Commitment to modeling safety behavior and company values, including integrity, respect, humility, hard work, and frugality
Education/Certification Requirements:
- A Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field required
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or industrial environments preferred
