Fiber Optic Network Technician / Installer (German Speaking)

About the position
Job Summary:
Our client is looking for a skilled Fiber Optic Network Technician/Installer to install fiber optic networks in residential or commercial houses and apartments, or for industrial clients, to ensure high-speed connectivity for all customers. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with fiber optic cabling, splicing, optical network terminal installation and testing, along with a good understanding of network infrastructure.
Experience in fiber optic installation and maintenance is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, splice, and test fiber optic cables (both aerial and underground)
- Perform fusion splicing and mechanical splicing to ensure low-loss connections.
- Troubleshoot and repair fiber network issues using OTDRs, light meters, and power meters.
- Install, configure and test Optical network terminals (ONTs), routers, switches, and other networking equipment.
- Interpret network diagrams, schematics, and construction blueprints.
- Work with OSP (Outside Plant) and ISP (Inside Plant) fiber infrastructure if may needed.
- Adhere to safety standards (OSHA, NEC, NESC) and company protocols.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other technicians to complete installations and repairs.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in fiber optics (e.g., Fiber Optic Association – FOA, VDV-Kabelkonfektionär, VDV-Spleißtechnik) is a plus.
- Knowledge of GPON, XGS-PON, or other fiber network architectures.
- 1+ years of experience in fiber optic installation, splicing, or telecom maintenance preferred.
- Proficiency in fusion splicing machines (e.g., Fujikura, Sumitomo) and OTDR testing.
- Fluent German language skill to manage the communication on job sites.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites.
- Ability to work outdoor in various weather conditions.
