About the position
A developing Independent School in Brent is seeking an imaginative and skilled Design & Technology Teacher specialising in Textiles for a permanent, full-time role commencing in September. The successful Design & Technology Teacher (Textiles) will inspire students across Key Stages 3 and 4 to explore their creativity through fabric and design.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging Design & Technology Teacher (Textiles) lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Prepare students thoroughly for GCSE Design & Technology, focusing on the textiles specialism.
- Develop students' practical skills in various textile techniques and their understanding of material properties.
- Assess and monitor student progress in textiles, providing constructive feedback as a Design & Technology Teacher (Textiles).
- Contribute to the evolution of the design and technology curriculum, specifically within textiles.
- Maintain a safe and well-equipped textiles workshop environment for student learning.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent with a specialism in Design & Technology, with a strong emphasis on Textiles.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching Design & Technology at the secondary level (Key Stages 3 & 4), with a focus on textiles.
- Strong practical abilities in a range of textile processes and a good understanding of design principles.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills essential for managing a practical subject.
- Ability to inspire students' creativity and technical proficiency within the field of textiles.
- A commitment to collaborative work and a supportive approach within the technology department.
