About the position
An established Independent School in Islington is seeking a creative and skilled Design & Technology Teacher specialising in Textiles for a permanent, full-time position starting in September. The successful Design & Technology Teacher (Textiles) will inspire students across Key Stages 3 and 4 to develop their understanding of textile materials, design, and manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging and effective Design & Technology Teacher (Textiles) lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Prepare students thoroughly for GCSE Design & Technology with a focus on Textiles.
- Develop students' understanding of textile properties, construction techniques, and design principles.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback as a Design & Technology Teacher (Textiles).
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the Design & Technology curriculum, specifically within Textiles.
- Maintain a safe and effective textiles workshop environment.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent with a specialism in Design & Technology, ideally with a focus on Textiles.
- Proven experience teaching Design & Technology at the secondary level (Key Stages 3 & 4), with experience in Textiles.
- Strong practical skills in a range of textile techniques (e.g., sewing, printing, pattern cutting).
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to inspire creativity and technical proficiency in Textiles among students.
- A commitment to collaborative teamwork and a supportive school environment.
