About the position
An Outstanding Boys' school in Barnet is seeking an engaging and knowledgeable History Teacher for a permanent, full-time position commencing in September. The successful History Teacher will ignite a passion for the past in male students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver captivating History Teacher lessons to students in Key Stages 3 and 4, covering a range of historical periods and themes.
- Prepare students effectively for GCSE History examinations, ensuring a solid understanding of key events and interpretations.
- Cultivate a dynamic learning environment that encourages critical thinking and an appreciation for historical context.
- Assess and monitor student progress in history, providing insightful and constructive feedback as a History Teacher.
- Contribute to the evolution of the history curriculum and the creation of engaging resources.
- Encourage student participation in historical debates and research projects.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent with a specialism in History.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching History at the secondary level (Key Stages 3 & 4).
- A strong and comprehensive knowledge of British and world history.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills, capable of bringing the past to life as a History Teacher.
- Ability to inspire and motivate male students to develop a curiosity about historical events and their significance.
- A commitment to collaborative work and a supportive ethos within the humanities department.
