An exciting opportunity to lead a thriving and creative Art department in our outstanding Newham school!
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to take on the role of Head of Art. You will inherit a strong and committed team and have the opportunity to build upon existing success, driving further development and innovation in artistic practice and education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide effective leadership and management for a well-established Art department.
- Build upon the existing strengths of the department and identify areas for further growth and artistic exploration.
- Support and develop the expertise of the Art teaching team.
- Ensure the curriculum remains relevant, engaging, and challenging, reflecting contemporary artistic trends.
- Maintain excellent standards of teaching, learning, and assessment in Art.
- Contribute positively to the wider life of the school, including showcasing student artwork.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Degree in Fine Art or a related subject.
- Significant experience teaching Art at secondary level, with demonstrable leadership experience in a successful department.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team of creative practitioners effectively.
- Strong understanding of curriculum development and assessment in Art.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and strategic thinking skills.
