Role - Account Officer, Mumbai
Experience: 1-2 years
Salary: Up to 4.5 LPA

Role & Responsibilities 

The accounts officer will be based out of HO-Mumbai and will be responsible for overseeing finance, accounting, and reporting activities.

  1. KEY RESULT AREAS/KEY DELIVERABLES

The responsibilities would include, but not be limited to, the following:

  1. Overseeing all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate accounting standards and regulatory requirements
  2. Maintaining internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and programme budgets and actual expenditures
  3. Coordinating all audit activity

  4. Assistance in analyzing financial data and presenting financial reports in an accurate and timely manner
  5. Assisting in the annual budgeting and planning process;

  1. POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Planning and Budgeting:

  1. Provide approvals for program activities

  2. Monitor utilization by geography, donor and organisation-wide

  3. Assist in Conducting root cause analysis to understand variances and improve budget forecasting

  4. Partnering with operations to track program outcomes, cost per outcome

Accounting:

  1. Overseeing all accounts, ledgers, and budget line items.

  2. Ensuring compliance with appropriate accounting standards and regulatory requirements

  3. Familiarity with Tally and Winman

  4. Track vendors and open contracts across multiple years.

  5. Monthly bank reconciliations

  6. Processing Payroll

  7. Knowledge of statutory compliance-PF, PT, and TDS.

Financial Reporting:

  1. Assistance in the preparation of financial reports.

  2. Work closely with auditors for certification of expenses as per CSR, FCRA, and Section 8-related rules.

  3. Meet donor reporting requirements as per grant agreement conditions

  4. Develop and share fortnightly cash flows with recommendations to management

Internal Controls:

  1. Maintaining internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and programme budgets and actual expenditures

  2. Assist in modifying the Finance and Administration Manual and align with Human Resources Manual and regulatory changes

  3. Plan and execute statutory deductions, fixed assets and inventory

Level of Education

Post Graduation in Commerce/Financial Management.

Experience

Work Experience of 1-3 years in non-profit accounting with progressively increasing responsibility

COMPETENCIES

Functional

  • Proficiency and advanced skills in financial software applications like Tally, Advanced Excel, and Winman.

  • Proficiency in reading and understanding financial documents

  • Knowledge of all regulations with respect to the non-profit sector in India

  • Strong analytical ability

  • Good command over spoken and written English. (Additional select Indian languages would be preferable.).
