About the position

Statistics and Bioinformatics Unit

The Statistics and Bioinformatics Unit (UEB) opens a selection process to incorporate a Biostatistics Technician. The role of the UEB is to support basic and clinical researchers, mainly from the Campus Vall d’Hebron, in their research. This is done primarily through data analysis services, participation in clinical trials, and data management services, and bioinformatics data analyses. The unit also offers advice and training on statistics and bioinformatics. The selected person will be responsible of the development of appropriate advice and services in biostatistics for all the biomedical researchers especially from VH Campus.

The position offered is ideal for someone combining high technical and scientific skills and knowledge of biostatistical data management with vocation for service/support and, especially, good capabilities to deal with biomedical researchers.

Education and qualifications:

Required:

  • University degree in Maths, Statistics, Health Sciences or related field.

Desired:

  • Postgraduate training in Biostatistics.
  • Fluency in English, Spanish and/or Catalan.

Experience and knowledge:

Required:

  • Experience in the biostatistics and/or data management
  • Complementary background in data management
  • Experience in biostatistics applied to biomedical research
  • Experience in Statistics for clinical trials and observational studies
  • Experience in design of Statistical Analysis Plan and Reports
  • Knowledge and experience in data management and software analysis (R, Stata, REDCap, etc)

Desired:

  • Having worked in an ISO Quality environment
  • Knowledge and experience in validation and regulatory environments
  • Knowledge and experience in reproducible research
  • Customer orientation 

Main responsibilities and duties:

Provide biostatistics and data management services to the Vall d’Hebron Campus or external research groups, including:

       o Attend to and participate to UEB regular activities

       o Assure that the activities are done according to the Unit quality system

       o Provide training according to the Unit's Training Plan

       o Provide support for all the activities in the area of biostatistics that can be

       o Participate in start-up meeting with researchers requesting database building or management and understand the requirements of the study

        o Write the proposal and budget for the required services

       o Perform the Statistical analysis and write the report results

       o Participate in the review of other analysis made in the unit

        o Lead the meeting when delivery report results to researchers 

Labour conditions:

  • Full-time position: 40h/week
  • Starting date: immediate
  • Gross annual salary: Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale.
  • Contract: Open-ended contract linked to the project (Related to Eatris Connect project - at least 22 months)
