About the position

An Outstanding Girls' school in Islington is seeking an innovative and skilled Design & Technology Teacher specialising in Engineering for a permanent, full-time role commencing in September. The successful Design & Technology Teacher (Engineering) will inspire female students across Key Stages 3 and 4 to develop their understanding of engineering principles and practical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging Design & Technology Teacher (Engineering) lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Prepare students thoroughly for GCSE Design & Technology, focusing on the engineering specialism.
  • Develop students' understanding of engineering concepts, materials, and design processes.
  • Assess and monitor student progress in engineering, providing constructive feedback as a Design & Technology Teacher (Engineering).
  • Contribute to the evolution of the design and technology curriculum, specifically within engineering.
  • Maintain a safe and well-equipped engineering workshop environment for student learning.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent with a specialism in Design & Technology, with a strong emphasis on Engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching Design & Technology at the secondary level (Key Stages 3 & 4), with a focus on engineering.
  • Strong practical abilities in a range of engineering processes and a good understanding of design methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills essential for managing a practical subject.
  • Ability to inspire female students' creativity and technical proficiency within the field of engineering.
  • A commitment to collaborative work and a supportive approach within the technology department.
