Full-Time English Teacher Role for ECTs and Experienced Educators - Richmond

Are you a passionate and inspiring Teacher of English with a desire to ignite a love of language and literature in young minds? We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our thriving English department in a secondary school in Richmond. This position is open to both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced educators.

About the English Department:

The English department is a collaborative and supportive team with a shared passion for fostering students' love of reading, writing, and communication. We offer a rich and engaging curriculum that covers a wide range of literary texts and encourages students to develop their own voices and perspectives.

About the Role:

  • Teach English Language and English Literature across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching at Key Stage 5 depending on experience and interest.
  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities.
  • Use a range of teaching methods and resources, including drama, debates, creative writing workshops, and technology, to bring English to life for students.
  • Assess student progress, set targets, and provide constructive feedback to support individual learning journeys.
  • Contribute to the department's curriculum development and resource creation, ensuring that our English curriculum remains relevant and challenging.
  • Foster a love of English in students, encouraging them to develop their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the school to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and keep abreast of the latest developments in English education. For ECTs, we offer a comprehensive induction program and ongoing mentoring support.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds QTS or equivalent.
  • Possesses excellent subject knowledge in English Language and English Literature.
  • Demonstrates a passion for teaching English and a commitment to student success.
  • Has strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
  • Is confident in building rapport with students and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Has a good understanding of the National Curriculum for English and relevant examination specifications.
  • Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
