We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our thriving Design and Technology department in a prestigious independent day school for boys in Westminster.

About the Design and Technology Department:

The Design and Technology department is a dynamic and collaborative team with a shared passion for bringing design and making to life for our students. We offer a rigorous and engaging curriculum that covers a wide range of materials and processes, from traditional woodworking and metalworking to modern technologies like CAD/CAM.

About the Role:

  • Teach Resistant Materials across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching at GCSE and A Level depending on experience and interest.
  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities.
  • Use a range of teaching methods and resources, including demonstrations, practical projects, and computer-aided design, to bring Resistant Materials to life for students.
  • Assess student progress, set targets, and provide constructive feedback to support individual learning journeys.
  • Contribute to the department's curriculum development and resource creation, ensuring that our Resistant Materials curriculum remains relevant and challenging.
  • Foster a love of design and making in students, encouraging them to develop their creativity, technical skills, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the school to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and keep abreast of the latest developments in Design and Technology education.
  • Contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular activities, such as design clubs and competitions.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds QTS or equivalent.
  • Possesses excellent subject knowledge in Resistant Materials.
  • Demonstrates a passion for teaching Design and Technology and a commitment to student success.
  • Has strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
  • Is confident in building rapport with students and fostering a positive and stimulating learning environment.
  • Has a good understanding of the National Curriculum for Design and Technology and relevant examination specifications.
  • Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
