We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our thriving Humanities department in an independent senior school with a broad and balanced curriculum in Westminster. This is a full-time, permanent position commencing in April 2025.

About the Humanities Department:
The Humanities department is a collaborative and passionate team with a shared commitment to fostering students' curiosity, critical thinking, and understanding of the world. We offer a rich and engaging curriculum that covers a wide range of topics, from ancient civilizations and global issues to local history and environmental sustainability. We encourage students to make connections between different subjects and develop their skills in research, analysis, and communication.
About the Role:
- Teach a combination of Humanities subjects, such as History, Geography, Religious Studies, and potentially Sociology or Philosophy, across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
- Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities.
- Use a range of teaching methods and resources, including fieldwork, debates, simulations, and creative projects, to bring the Humanities to life for students.
- Assess student progress, set targets, and provide constructive feedback to support individual learning journeys.
- Contribute to the department's curriculum development and resource creation, ensuring that our Humanities curriculum remains relevant and challenging.
- Foster a love of the Humanities in students, encouraging them to explore the world around them, develop their critical thinking skills, and become informed and engaged citizens.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the school to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and keep abreast of the latest developments in Humanities education.
- Contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular activities, such as debating societies, history clubs, and geography field trips.
Ideal Candidate:
- Holds QTS or equivalent.
- Possesses excellent subject knowledge in at least two Humanities subjects.
- Demonstrates a passion for teaching the Humanities and a commitment to student success.
- Has strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
- Is confident in building rapport with students and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Has a good understanding of the National Curriculum for the Humanities and relevant examination specifications.
- Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
