Head of Applied AI Engineering

About the Role Lead the engineering teams responsible for deploying applied AI solutions for healthcare, life sciences, and wellness organizations. This role works across engineering, product, and commercial teams to bring AI systems into complex production environments and support patient, care team, and operational workflows. What You'll Do Build, hire, and mentor Applied AI Engineers, and set the team's charter, technical practices, and performance goals. Lead end-to-end deployments, ensuring systems are scalable, compliant, and integrated with electronic health record, customer relationship management, and claims data systems. Partner with enterprise clients as a technical leader, translating business workflows into production-ready AI configurations. Work with sales and growth teams on technical discovery, use-case evaluation, and expansion opportunities. Collaborate with product and platform engineering to turn deployment learnings into reusable components and platform improvements. Oversee data ingestion, real-time agent infrastructure, and output safeguards for reliable and safe operation. What We're Looking For 10 or more years of experience combining hands-on engineering with engineering leadership or management. Experience leading teams delivering enterprise technical solutions or deployed engineering in high-stakes environments. Strong backend or full-stack engineering background, including real-time services, distributed systems, and scalable data pipelines. Experience with healthcare, health systems, health insurance, life sciences, or pharmaceuticals, including relevant data and compliance considerations. Hands-on experience delivering data-focused or data science solutions and production agentic AI systems. Technical familiarity with Python, TypeScript, Node.js, SQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, LangChain, LangGraph, AWS, Kubernetes, Spark, and related data and AI infrastructure. Experience managing deployed or solutions engineering teams, partnering with enterprise executives, and supporting customer growth. Senior engineering leadership experience, with a record of working in startup or high-growth environments and contributing as a hands-on individual contributor. Compensation & Benefits Base salary: $300,000 to $365,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is available. Location Remote, with Israel as the primary location. Remote candidates in the United States are also considered.
