HR Manager – York | Permanent Opportunity

Location: York Start: ASAP Contract: Permanent Hours: Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:00 (37 hours per week) Salary: £36,000–£42,000 per annum (indicative) Benefits: Pension scheme, generous annual leave, professional development and employee wellbeing support We’re looking for an experienced HR Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day HR function within a school in York. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a varied, people-focused role and wants to make a genuine difference within an education setting. You’ll work closely with the senior leadership team, providing practical HR advice and helping ensure staff are supported throughout their employment. Key Responsibilities Manage recruitment, onboarding and staff induction. Advise managers on employee relations, absence management and performance matters. Oversee HR records, policies and employment documentation. Support safer recruitment and ensure compliance with relevant safeguarding requirements. Coordinate appraisals, training and staff development. Maintain accurate records and support workforce planning. What We’re Looking For Previous experience in an HR Manager or senior HR advisory role. Good knowledge of employment law and HR best practice. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. The confidence to advise managers and handle sensitive matters professionally. Experience in education would be beneficial. Why Apply?
