Senior Tax Manager, Tax & Practice Operations

FULLTIME / HYBRID Position Overview We are seeking an experienced CPA to lead complex tax engagements, provide senior-level technical review, manage key client relationships, and support the continued development of an established accounting practice. The ideal candidate has extensive public accounting experience, strong federal and California tax expertise, and the ability to manage engagements, clients, and professional staff independently. This position requires a hands-on leader who takes ownership of quality, deadlines, client service, staff performance, and engagement profitability. Required Qualifications Active CPA license At least 8–10 years of recent public accounting experience Extensive federal and California tax experience Strong experience with individual and business taxation Significant experience preparing and reviewing Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, and 1120S Experience reviewing complex returns prepared by other professionals Ability to independently research and resolve complex tax matters Experience managing tax engagements from planning through completion Experience supervising, mentoring, and developing professional staff Strong client-facing and relationship-management experience Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management abilities Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing deadlines Ability to work independently and remain accountable in a primarily remote environment Must reside in Southern California within reasonable traveling distance of West Los Angeles and West Hollywood Willingness to attend in-person meetings when required Preferred Qualifications Experience with California-based public accounting firms High-net-worth individuals Closely held and family-owned businesses Partnerships and S corporations Trust and estate taxation Multistate taxation Tax planning and projections IRS and California tax notices Engagement budgeting, billing, realization, and collections Practice management and process improvement Distributed or remote professional teams Tax technology and workflow automation
