Advanced Engineering Manager

About the position

Job Description: The Advanced Engineering Manager is responsible for combining commercial focus with technical expertise, with a specific responsibility for creating and developing business opportunities where research, development, and innovation are central. The role acts as a bridge between the customer’s future technical needs and the company’s R&D capabilities. Principle Accountabilities/ Main missions and results: · Initiate and lead technical discussions with OEMs and Tier 1 customers to identify innovation and development opportunities. · Translate customer specifications into internal development projects. · Scan the market for emerging technical innovations for potential integration in current scope of business portfolio and production. · Drive application process, cost calculations, and business models for products in Ideation and Discovery phase. · Recommend selection of concepts for further development. · Develop long-term R&D partnerships with key customers and Tier 1. · Work as program manager in customer funded development programs and ensure technical solutions meet both customer and company commercial goals. · Support marketing by securing intellectual property and technical advantages are properly managed in business negotiations. · Participate in development project steering groups as the contact point between R&D and the customer. · Represent the company at technical fairs, customer workshops, and innovation forums. · Establish and expand contacts within customer organizations. · Engage internal and external partners in concept development work. · Initiate and lead concept studies. · Propose investments in prototypes, simulations, and tests. · Manage technically complex customer dialogues and R&D-related business development. · Recommend product choices to project teams and management. · Contribute to the company’s innovation strategy through customer and market insights. · Ensure new products are developed in line with customer technical roadmaps. · Handle the full process from concept discussions to contract signing. · Report to status of R&D-driven business opportunities to management. · Report to Senior Manager R&D Leadership and Behaviors' · Understanding new and existing technologies, processes & products, with passion for continuous learning. · Proven interpersonal and influencing skills. · High level of drive and personal commitment. · Working well under pressure and engaging at all levels of the organization both internally and externally. · Well-developed leadership skills with excellent influencing capabilities. · Ability to make and accept challenges positively and debate confidently. · Credible with peers and able to demonstrate added value. · High problem-solving skills with drive for continuous improvement. · Deliver on promises, do what he/she says they will do, when they say they will do it. · High degree of integrity, always prepared to do the right thing. Preferred Skills, Education & Experiences to fulfil role (essential & desirable) · Master’s degree in engineering (mechanical, electronics, materials, or mechatronics) or equivalent. · Proven experience in technical sales within R&D-related areas in the automotive industry. · Strong understanding of OEM and Tier 1/Tier 2 development processes. · Strong understanding of project management, product lifecycle, and industrialization. · Strategic ability combined with an operational execution focus. · Ability to inspire, motivate, and develop employees. · Excellent communication skills in English (and preferably Swedish), both written and spoken.
