PostgreSQL DBA Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented PostgreSQL / Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain, and optimize our database systems. The ideal candidate will ensure high availability, performance, and security of critical databases while supporting development and business operations. Key Responsibilities: Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL and Oracle database environments Monitor database performance and implement tuning improvements Perform database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with internal policies Manage database upgrades, patches, and migrations Troubleshoot database issues and provide timely resolution Collaborate with developers to optimize queries and database design Implement and maintain high availability solutions (replication, clustering) Automate routine database tasks using scripts (Shell, Python, etc.) Maintain documentation for database configurations and procedures Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience) Proven experience as a DBA working with PostgreSQL and/or Oracle Database Strong knowledge of SQL and database performance tuning Experience with backup and recovery strategies Familiarity with Linux/Unix operating systems Understanding of database security best practices Experience with replication technologies (e.g., streaming replication, Data Guard) Ability to troubleshoot complex database issues.
