About the position
Overview A leading manufacturing organization is seeking a Director of Plant Engineering to drive operational performance, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement across a high-volume production facility. This role is responsible for leading maintenance and engineering functions, optimizing plant efficiency, and executing strategic capital initiatives that enhance long-term operational success. The ideal candidate is a results-oriented leader with strong technical expertise, a data-driven mindset, and a proven ability to build high-performing teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Lead capital projects from concept through execution, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and in compliance with all safety and regulatory standards Oversee project planning and implementation to minimize production disruption and maximize operational impact Develop and implement advanced maintenance strategies, including preventive and predictive maintenance and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Drive improvements in equipment reliability, uptime, and overall operational efficiency Lead, coach, and develop maintenance and engineering teams, promoting a strong safety-first culture and accountability at all levels Troubleshoot and resolve complex operational issues while identifying and addressing root causes to prevent recurrence Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), including equipment reliability, maintenance effectiveness, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) Partner cross-functionally with operations, quality, and leadership teams to support plant goals and continuous improvement initiatives Build organizational capability through talent development, performance management, and succession planning Foster a culture of safety, communication, engagement, and continuous improvement Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field 10+ years of experience in engineering and/or maintenance leadership within a manufacturing environment Demonstrated leadership experience with a track record of developing high-performing teams Strong technical expertise in mechanical and electrical systems, including automation and controls Proven experience managing large-scale capital projects and budgets Knowledge of maintenance systems, work order processes, and reliability-centered maintenance practices Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and design tools (e.g., AutoCAD) Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Preferred Experience Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment Familiarity with industrial refrigeration systems Background in high-volume production operations Additional Requirements Flexibility to support off-shift or weekend operations as neededPlace of work
