Senior VAT Accountant

About the position

An established local CSP is looking for a Sr VAT Accountant to join their team. In this role, you will form part of a dynamic team working with a diverse international clientele across various industries, as well as the firm's private clients. This is an office-based role offering a salary of up to €50K, depending on experience. Role & Responsibilities Work closely with Management on the technical aspects of VAT-related work, including contributing to the drafting and enhancement of internal procedures Manage and oversee VAT compliance work carried out by junior team members across a diverse client portfolio Handle complex VAT matters, including advisory work, cross-border VAT implications, sector-specific VAT treatment, and analysis of legislative changes Review VAT returns, VAT recapitulative statements, and related submissions Assist clients with VAT registrations, deregistrations, and ongoing statutory requirements Liaise with tax authorities on VAT compliance matters, audits, queries, and investigations Attend client meetings to discuss VAT positions, compliance requirements, and provide guidance Education, Skills & Experience Fully qualified accountant Professional qualification or certification in taxation is a plus Minimum of 2 years’ experience working specifically within VAT or indirect taxation in Malta (non-negotiable) Excellent written and spoken English Strong knowledge of VAT legislation, particularly Maltese and EU VAT frameworks Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex technical information to clients Highly organised with a keen eye for detail About the Role Salary up to €50K, depending on experience Office-based in Valletta Start date: ASAP On-the-job training Opportunities for career growth and development Apply with your detailed CV in English. *JobMatchingPartner Limited is a recruitment agency licenced in Malta, EU with licence no EA00340-2024.
