Job description: Data Center Estimator Remote (Near Plano, TX) | Mission-Critical Infrastructure The Opportunity Data centers are rapidly becoming the backbone of modern society powering cloud computing, AI platforms, financial systems, defense infrastructure, and everyday digital services. Our client, a nationally recognized infrastructure and technology integration firm, is seeking a Data Center Estimator to support the planning and delivery of high-profile data center projects. This role is ideal for technically minded professionals who want to grow into project engineering, project management, or senior estimating within one of the fastest-growing sectors in construction and technology. You will help turn designs into real facilities — translating drawings into real costs, real schedules, and successful builds. Position Details Classification: Exempt salaried (weekly pay structure for invoicing purposes) Engagement: Full Time Location: Remote (must reside near Plano, TX) Travel: Up to 15% (primarily to headquarters and project meetings) Schedule: Standard business hours with flexibility based on project demands Role Overview The Estimator supports the preparation and development of project cost estimates for data center infrastructure and structured cabling environments. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, and vendors to produce accurate and competitive estimates that support successful project execution and profitability. This is a strong entry point into mission-critical operations and construction management. Key Responsibilities Prepare cost estimates, bills of materials (BOMs), and labor projections for data center infrastructure projects Interpret drawings, specifications, and scope documents Perform takeoffs for structured cabling, electrical, and mechanical systems Collaborate with engineering, field teams, and procurement to validate quantities and vendor pricing Support RFP responses and proposal submissions Maintain historical cost databases and vendor pricing records Assist in evaluating change orders and scope modifications Ensure estimates align with project standards and client expectations Participate in site visits and pre-bid meetings when required Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and accuracy Required Qualifications Associate or Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related technical discipline 3–5 years of experience in estimating, coordination, or data center construction (internship or field exposure acceptable) Understanding of Division 27 / ISP infrastructure environments Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, or structured cabling systems Proficiency with Excel, Bluebeam, and estimating software (Trimble, Accubid, PlanSwift, or similar) Ability to read technical drawings and specifications Strong analytical and numerical accuracy skills Effective communication and collaboration abilities Preferred Experience Familiarity with structured cabling or data center design practices Exposure to vendor bid comparisons and RFP processes Basic AutoCAD, Revit, or scheduling software knowledge Experience working in deadline-driven project environments Key Competencies Detail-oriented analytical thinker Strong problem-solving capability Motivated to grow within estimating and project management Team-focused and dependable Adaptable in fast-paced, high-volume workflows Benefits: Dental insurance Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Tuition reimbursement Vision insurance Experience: Data Center: 1 year (Required)Place of work
