Project Engineer – Marine & Heavy Civil Construction Location: Long Beach, CA (On-site with Regional Travel) Category: Civil Engineering / Marine Construction Compensation: Competitive Base + 10% Bonus Potential + Full Benefits The Opportunity Join a leading heavy civil and marine construction firm supporting high-impact projects across the California coast. We are seeking a Project Engineer to bridge the gap between complex field operations and office-based project management. This is a hands-on role requiring daily field coordination, production tracking, and a commitment to safety on high-stakes marine sites. Core Responsibilities Field Coordination: Work onsite alongside Superintendents and Foremen to plan daily activities, coordinating labor, equipment, and material sourcing (including rock deliveries/quarry operations). Production Tracking: Maintain accurate daily logs of crew activities, equipment usage, and material quantities for payment and progress reporting. Safety & Quality: Support enforcement of MSHA, OSHA, and USACE safety policies; lead safety meetings and monitor field activities for quality compliance. Technical Support: Perform progress surveys, assemble cross-sections, and develop bathymetry maps to document project progress. Project Controls: Manage construction document control, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, contracts, and progress payments. Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field. Experience: Minimum 5 years in roles such as Field/Project Engineer specifically within Marine Construction or Heavy Civil environments. Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office is required. Certifications: Must possess (or be able to obtain) a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and have a valid CA Driver's License. Physical Readiness: Ability to work in the field, including climbing in/out of marine equipment and lifting up to 50 lbs. Travel: Ability to work out-of-town for extended periods and occasional weekends as project sites require. Preferred Qualifications USACE Expertise: Prior experience on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers projects and familiarity with EM 385-1-1 safety requirements. Specialized Skills: Experience with hydrographic/topographic surveying, Hypack software, or HeavyBid estimating. Why Apply?
