Laser Weld Engineer | Hart, MI Salary Range: $80,000 - $120,000 depending on experience Are you a skilled professional with a passion for excelling in laser weld engineer? The Opportunity We partner with manufacturers across Hart seeking Laser Weld Engineers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit. Key Responsibilities Develop and optimize laser welding processes for manufacturing applications. Design and implement laser welding fixtures and tooling. Perform root cause analysis on weld defects and implement corrective actions. Program and operate laser welding equipment, including robots and CNC systems. Establish and maintain detailed welding parameters and process documentation. Collaborate with R&D, design, and production teams on new product introduction. Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements. Recommended Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. 3+ years of hands-on experience with industrial laser welding processes (e.g., fiber, Nd:YAG) and equipment in a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated ability in laser weld process development, optimization, and validation for high-volume production. Strong understanding of welding metallurgy, material science, and their application to various metal alloys. Proficiency in troubleshooting laser welding systems, including laser sources, beam delivery optics, and motion control. Experience with CAD software and automation/robotics programming for laser welding applications. Bonus Qualifications Experience with robotic programming and integration for automated laser welding systems. Demonstrated experience welding exotic or challenging materials (e.g., superalloys, medical-grade alloys, dissimilar metals). Proficiency in advanced weld characterization techniques (e.g., CT scanning, SEM/EDS) and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods. Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE) for process optimization. Proficiency in CAD software for fixture design and tooling optimization.
