The Opportunity We are partnering with organizations in Otsego that are seeking Laser Weld Engineers. Key Responsibilities Develop, optimize, and qualify laser welding processes for new and existing products. Specify, install, maintain, and troubleshoot laser welding equipment and associated peripherals. Conduct root cause analysis for weld defects and implement corrective actions to improve quality and yield. Design and procure tooling and fixtures to support efficient and precise laser welding operations. Create and maintain detailed process documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, and process control plans. Collaborate with R&D, design, and production teams to integrate laser welding into new product introductions. Ensure compliance with all laser safety standards and promote a safe working environment. Recommended Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field. 3+ years of hands-on experience in laser welding process development and optimization within a manufacturing environment. In-depth knowledge of laser welding principles, equipment (e.g., fiber, CO2, Nd:YAG), and beam delivery systems. Proficiency in metallurgy, material science, and the effects of laser welding on various alloys. Demonstrated experience with weld quality inspection techniques, root cause analysis for defects, and process control methodologies. Bonus Qualifications Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) or welding simulation software. Proficiency in integrating laser welding systems with robotics or advanced automation. Familiarity with advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) methods for weld inspection. Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and data analytics for process optimization.
