The Opportunity We partner with manufacturers across Rockford seeking First Article Inspectors who want more than a lateral move. Key Responsibilities Review engineering drawings, specifications, and CAD models to understand inspection requirements. Perform precise dimensional inspections using a variety of metrology tools (CMM, calipers, micrometers, gauges, optical comparators). Verify material certifications, special processes, and surface finishes against engineering specifications. Generate comprehensive First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in accordance with industry standards (e.g., AS9102). Document all inspection results accurately, including identification and reporting of non-conformances. Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure product conformity. Maintain calibration and proper function of inspection equipment and tools. Recommended Qualifications Proficiency in interpreting complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D models, including expert-level understanding of GD&T. Demonstrated expertise in operating and programming various precision measurement equipment (e.g., CMM, calipers, micrometers, optical comparators). Thorough knowledge and practical application of First Article Inspection (FAI) processes and industry standards (e.g., AS9102, AS9100). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail for identifying and documenting non-conformances. Excellent written communication skills for creating comprehensive FAI reports, inspection logs, and quality documentation. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a quality inspection or manufacturing environment, preferably with FAI responsibilities.
