Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dimensional and visual inspections of first article parts against engineering drawings and specifications. Generate and complete First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in accordance with AS9102 standards or customer-specific requirements. Utilize a wide range of precision measuring equipment, including CMM, calipers, micrometers, height gages, and optical comparators. Document all inspection results accurately, identifying and reporting any non-conformances or deviations. Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to investigate and resolve first article discrepancies. Verify material certifications, special process certifications, and other supporting documentation for compliance. Maintain calibration status of inspection tools and equipment used for first article verification. Recommended Qualifications Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Proficiency in using a wide range of precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators, and CMMs. Demonstrated experience in preparing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in accordance with industry standards like AS9102. Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail for accurate dimensional verification and defect identification. Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control methodologies, and relevant quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100).
