Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dimensional and visual inspections of first article parts and assemblies. Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine inspection requirements. Utilize a wide range of precision measuring instruments, including CMM, calipers, micrometers, and gauges. Generate detailed First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in accordance with industry standards (e.g., AS9102). Identify and document non-conformances, communicating findings to engineering and production teams. Verify material certifications, special process compliance, and other critical attributes. Maintain and calibrate inspection equipment, ensuring accuracy and proper functionality. Recommended Qualifications Proven experience conducting First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with industry standards (e.g., AS9102, PPAP). Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Expertise in operating a variety of precision measuring equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM, optical comparators). Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, fabrication, assembly) and their impact on product quality. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and inspection reporting.
