Embedded Systems Engineer | Hart, MI Salary Range: $84,000 - $129,000 depending on experience Are you a skilled professional with a passion for excelling in embedded systems engineer? Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and test embedded hardware and firmware for manufacturing equipment and production lines. Integrate sensors, actuators, and communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, EtherCAT) into industrial control systems. Develop and optimize real-time operating systems (RTOS) and bare-metal firmware for automated manufacturing processes. Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for embedded system failures on the factory floor. Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to define system requirements and ensure seamless hardware-software integration. Maintain and update existing embedded systems to improve performance, reliability, and introduce new features for manufacturing efficiency. Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations for embedded systems used in manufacturing environments. Recommended Qualifications Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems development, including bare-metal and RTOS environments. Strong experience with microcontroller/microprocessor architectures (e.g., ARM, PIC) and peripheral interfaces. Demonstrated ability in hardware-software integration, debugging, and testing using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers). Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., CAN, Modbus, Ethernet/IP) and sensor/actuator integration. Understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT) for high-volume production. Bonus Qualifications Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC UA, PROFINET, EtherCAT). Familiarity with industrial control systems (PLCs, SCADA) and their integration with embedded solutions. Exposure to IoT platforms and cloud connectivity for industrial data collection and analytics. Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for industrial embedded devices. Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) in a high-volume production environment.
