The Opportunity We partner with manufacturers across Jenison seeking Embedded Systems Engineers who want more than a lateral move. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and test embedded hardware and firmware for manufacturing equipment and production lines. Integrate embedded systems with industrial automation platforms, sensors, and factory IT infrastructure. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex embedded system issues on the production floor to minimize downtime. Optimize existing embedded systems for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency in high-volume manufacturing environments. Develop and maintain robust firmware for microcontrollers and other embedded processors used in manufacturing processes. Collaborate with production, quality, and R&D teams to define system requirements and facilitate seamless productization. Ensure embedded system designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality control protocols. Recommended Qualifications Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems development on microcontrollers. Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and bare-metal programming. Strong hardware debugging skills using tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and in-circuit debuggers. Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, CAN, EtherCAT) and sensor interfacing. Ability to read and interpret schematics and datasheets for component selection and troubleshooting. Bonus Qualifications Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, EtherCAT, OPC UA, CAN). Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT) principles. Understanding of functional safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508, ISO 13849) for industrial applications. Experience integrating embedded systems with PLC/SCADA or other industrial automation platforms. Knowledge of manufacturing test strategies and automated test equipment (ATE).
