Key Responsibilities Develop, write, and edit CNC programs for lathe machines using CAM software and G-code. Interpret complex engineering blueprints, CAD models, and technical specifications. Select optimal tooling, cutting parameters (speeds, feeds), and machining strategies. Perform program simulations and dry runs to verify accuracy and prevent collisions. Optimize existing programs to improve cycle times, material utilization, and part quality. Diagnose and resolve programming-related issues during production runs. Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality personnel on process improvements. Maintain and update comprehensive programming documentation and revision control. Recommended Qualifications Proficiency in CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Esprit) for CNC lathe programming. Expert knowledge of G-code and M-code for manual programming and editing. Ability to interpret complex engineering blueprints, including GD&T specifications. Strong understanding of cutting tools, workholding, and material properties for turning operations. Experience with program proving, troubleshooting, and optimizing CNC lathe processes. Bonus Qualifications Experience with multiple CAD/CAM software platforms (e.g., Mastercam, GibbsCAM, Esprit). Proficiency in manual G-code programming and editing for process optimization. Experience programming multi-axis CNC lathes or machines with live tooling. Familiarity with quality control processes and measurement tools (e.g., CMM, micrometers, calipers). Knowledge of tooling selection and optimization strategies for various materials.
